Idle Projects – News from the workshop

Hey all! 👋

So, apologies if I haven’t been as vocal as I would like to be. Truthfully, being the center of attention is somewhat draining for me, so even when I have new videos/topics to post about, it’s often a little hard for me to get over the anxiety of it all (I am also an introverted geek after all). That being said, I wanted to take a moment to talk about some exciting things I’ve been working on for the site!

First: there is of course the usual media. I went to Magic Con again this year, and I got some pretty decent footage with the help of my new social media lead. I’m putting some finishing touches on some of the editing, and I should be able to upload the recap pretty soon. I also got some nifty pictures that I’ll be adding to the gallery (which I plan on organizing a bit more as well). I had a lot of fun as usual, but I think what’s more important/interesting will be highlighting what her experience was like as a first timer and someone relatively new to Magic.

Second: I’m slowly working on what I can do to start connecting some monetization routes. It’s honestly the part about this project that is hardest for me as it’s more about the passion and the desire to reach others for me, but at the end of the day, we all have to eat, and I’ll be able to do more (and better) work if I have to worry less about how I’m going to do that each month. So, if you happen to help contribute, thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. And if you can’t/don’t right now, that’s fine too. Thank you anyway for being here.

LASTLY (and, for me, most excitingly): I’ve recently been getting repeatedly hit by these surges of inspiration and motivation in terms of creative Tech projects, and I’ve all but decided that I’m going to start tying them in to the site and give supporters/readers the chance at early access as well as an avenue to voice their opinions on it. What do I mean by that? Well, I’ve currently got an attempt at my first visual novel in the works, I’m working on some multi-platform D&D tooling (based on the Aurora Builder project so it’s community focused), and I’m working on an adjacent helper tool to make it easier to translate/create the XML files needed to extend both the original Aurora and Aurora Reflections (my new upcoming version). And that’s just to start.

To offer support for all of these things, hear any feedback you all may have regarding them, and connect more with everyone in general, I’ve also begun crafting the Idle Handz Community Discord server! Like with all things so far, it’s not perfect yet, and I’m more than open to suggestions on how to expand/build/grow the server.

If any of that sounds interesting, come join the Idle Handz Community Discord, say hi, and help shape what this becomes.
